There is much debate surrounding the idea of a humans natural diet. The
debate heats up when you start asking questions like:
At the age of 24, after living in constant pain for most of my young life, I made one of the most "extreme" decision of my life. I choose to cut out all animal products from my diet and start eating a 100% plant based diet.
This of course shocked my family as they whole heartedly believed
that meat was essential and part of a balanced diet. At one of the last
meals I shared with my father he became very angry as I was not
enjoying the Thanksgiving turkey. He got out of his seat and yelled,
"Darlene, you look sick and unhealthy, dammit you need meat!" Three
months later my dad passed on after a 25 year "battle" with ulcerous
colitis.
I understood my dad was only scared for me as I too had spend so many years being ill. Yet at that time in my life I felt better than I had in years and I was going to continue to stay on my new plant based diet because I was beginning to see how unnatural it felt to eat animal products both intuitively and physically.
My road to health has taken me so many trial and errors but the one
question I continue to ask myself along the way when faced with all the
confusion and debates is "What would I do if I HAD to live in nature?"
Without spear, knife or shooting instrument how would I eat, what foods
would I eat and how much would I eat? I first take a look at my human
design, form and function.

The second think I did when deciding what my natural diet was, is
look into what I am naturally drawn to out side of
the food customs I have been raised to eat. There is a fine line
between what your body is "asking for" as far as its nutritional needs
and what it only knows to ask for because you may not have ever eaten
something your body is really needs.
For instance if you or someone you know was raised on baby formula,
I am extremely surprised how any infant who is given
formula as their first food even survives a day...
